The northern Mackenzie
Mountains in the NWT are
known for their massive moose.
Our moose population is not
huge, but the bulls achieve
enormous size.  This is due to
the light harvest, and to
"Bergmans Rule" which states
that animals of a given species
tend to be larger the farther
north you go.

2007 was another fine year for
our moose hunts.  Everyone
connected on a good bull,
except for one mixed bag hunter
who collected a ram and a
caribou, and was looking for a
moose bigger than the 60 incher
he already had at home
.
Mike Hallam's moose was taken with Adam
Grinde in the fog along the Mountain River.
