2005 Hunt Report...summary
2005 was a fine year in the Mackenzie Mountains.  At Gana River we took many quality
trophies, had good times and quality hunting with fine folks.

Although we missed Bill and Carol Mackenzie around camp, our keen and talented crew
pitched in to make the season both enjoyable and productive.

All but one of the folks who completed their sheep hunt took home a Dall Ram (foul weather
interevened for Mike Klein who has rebooked for 2006).
The average age of the rams
was ten years and the average length was 37 inches.  Bases averaged 13.5 inches.

We continue to spread the harvest over the entire area to ensure quality rams for the
long term.

The moose and caribou harvest was also good, starting when Manse Kevwitch
harvested a huge bull in Horse Pass .  We had many caribou coming right by our
Palmer Lake basecamp, with one near record bull taken right on the beach. Our
moose hunts were productive (56.57.60,60) with one John Penek passing up a 58.
